Wig maintenance and care is crucial in ensuring that your wig looks and feels its best but also for its longevity.

1. Your wig should be treated like your real hair

Like with your real hair it is a must to regularly shampoo and condition your wig with a high-quality sulphate-free shampoo and a moisturizing sulphate-free conditioner.

Sulphate hair products strip the hair of its natural oils leaving it dry and brittle.

2. How to shampoo and condition your wig

1. Brush the hair thoroughly to remove any tangles
2. Wet the hair thoroughly (as you would do with your own hair when washing) then apply your shampoo of choice - make sure to spread the shampoo from the roots to the ends and gently massage the shampoo all over the hair
3. Rinse thoroughly until no traces of shampoo is left
4. Place a large amount of conditioner on to the hair and apply throughout
5. Comb through the hair - starting from the bottom right to the top
6. Place the hair in a bag (plastic cap/deep conditioning cap), tie it and put it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes **
7. Wait for the bag to cool before removing it from the microwave
8. Comb through the hair - again start from the bottom to the top
9. Thoroughly wash out the conditioner until there's no trace of product left
10. Depending on your preference - hair can be blow-dried or left to air dry

** Alternative methods to add heat include: using a hair steamer, microwavable heating caps, hooded or bonnet dryer.
